We have an embarrassment of riches in Nashville where technology organizations are concerned. Between groups like the Nashville Technology Council and Digital Nashville, recurring social events like Geek Breakfast and the various mixers, annual events like BarCamp and PodCamp, and resources such as the new Entrepreneur Center, not to mention much, more more, a person new to Nashville could easily become overwhelmed trying to understand what's what and where to turn when.

Shortly after the first barcamp back in 2007, the first Nashville Game Developer group met. Scott Southworth and Caleb Garner missed each other at the event itself, but Marcus Whitney (co founder of the first barcamp) got the two together and have since been working on building a community of passionate and committed developers.

The two hosts and producers of the series "Con Trek" will discuss the process of crafting a new media series for Microsoft's cutting edge set top box. Other topics will include the struggle to get traditional companies involved with cutting edge new media projects.

I will share steps to successfully network without annoying those around you. Networking is a crucial part of getting a job or climbing the ladder in the one you already have. You don't want to be known as that person who is always the drunk one, or the loud one, the one-upper or the boring one. I will share success stories of positive networking experiences as well as examples of what not to do. Join me, and my fellow Feek (feminine Geek) Kate O for a fun session. Hear Brent Shaffer (@bshaffer), a Symfony developer and contributer, duke it out with Travis Roberts (@travisroberts), a Ruby on Rails proponent, in the battle of two frameworks. The discussion will include an introduction to both frameworks and a comparison of the PHP and Ruby languages. At the end, Symfony and Rails will meet in a no-holds-barred battle to the death, and only you can decide the victor. Time for Q&A will also be allotted.
