My name is Marissa. I hail from Akron, Ohio, but have lived in Nashville for quite some time.
I went to Belmont University and graduated with a degree in Marketing and Spanish. I know the important Spanish words like cerveza and bano.
My professional experience has been mostly in the nonprofit sector. I currently work at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce heading up the small business programs for the Chamber. Basically, I create learning and networking programs that help small businesses thrive and grow. Nashville is a vibrant and amazing place, and I feel like the entrepreneurs and small business owners make it a great place to live. I worked for the Center for Nonprofit Management for five years and am very involved in the nonprofit community. I do all sorts of things in my free time, which is not much.
I am excited to be the official Volunteer Coordinator for Barcamp and know how to lasso some volunteers in to action. I promise it will be fun. Love the Barcamp and love the geeks.
Although Barcamp is a gathering of geeks and techno enthusiasts, I have always considered myself more of a dork. :) Either way, I am excited to be here and to meet you!
